ACUPUNCTURE
Will acupuncture help what you're dealing with?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. It works by prompting your nervous system to do what it already knows how to do. Regulate pain signals, calm inflammation, restore circulation to tissue that's been starved of it.
After 25 years, I can usually tell within two or three sessions whether it's going to work for you, and I'll tell you if it isn't.
What acupuncture helps with

Chronic & acute pain
Low back, neck, shoulder, sciatica, knee and joint pain, plantar fasciitis, post-surgical pain, and injuries that healed on paper but still hurt.
Treatment addresses the painful area and the compensations built around it. Often the hip behind a low back complaint, the neck behind a shoulder.
Most patients notice a change by the third session.

Stress, anxiety & sleep
Difficulty falling or staying asleep, a nervous system that won't downshift, panic, and the physical symptoms that come with all of it.
We work on downshifting the nervous system rather than sedating it, so the change holds between visits.
Sleep usually shifts first, before the daytime symptoms follow.

Digestive & gut health
IBS, bloating, reflux, constipation, nausea, and the chronic gut complaints that scopes and panels keep clearing.
Slower to respond than pain, and often more effective when paired with a herbal formula built for your pattern.
Plan on a longer course than you would for an injury.

Women's health
Menstrual pain and irregularity, fertility support, pregnancy discomfort, perimenopause and menopausal symptoms.
Cycle-related treatment is timed to where you are in your cycle, so the schedule is built around that rather than a fixed weekly slot.
Progress is measured across cycles rather than weeks, so give it a few months.

Headaches & migraines
Migraine frequency and intensity, tension headaches, TMJ and jaw pain, sinus pressure.
We treat both the head itself and the jaw, neck and shoulder tension that usually sits underneath the pattern.
Frequency tends to drop before intensity does. Keep a log for the first month.

Energy, immunity & recovery
Persistent fatigue, frequent infections, long recovery after illness, and support alongside ongoing medical treatment.
Support for recovery after illness, through ongoing medical treatment, or when energy simply hasn't come back.
Works best as a consistent run of sessions rather than occasional visits.
Questions I get asked every week
Does it hurt?
The needles are about the width of a human hair. Several fit inside the opening of a standard injection needle. Most people feel a brief dull ache or warmth at a few points and nothing at the rest. A fair number fall asleep on the table.
How many sessions will I need?
Most conditions show meaningful change within four to six sessions. Something acute may resolve in two or three; something you've had for fifteen years takes longer. I'll give you an honest estimate at your first visit and revise it as we go.
Do you take insurance?
[**CURRENT INSURANCE AND SUPERBILL POLICY.**] Receipts are provided for reimbursement and for HSA/FSA accounts.
What should I do before my visit?
Eat something beforehand, wear loose clothing, and bring a list of medications and supplements you're taking. Skip heavy exercise right after.
Can I keep seeing my doctor?
Yes, and you should. Acupuncture works alongside conventional care, not instead of it. I'm glad to coordinate with your physician when that's useful.
When acupuncture needs backup
Sometimes a symptom holds on despite good treatment. When that happens, I add one of two things to your session, and I'll explain exactly why before we do.
